Ed James got his start at the professional level when the producer of Amy Grant's multi-platinum A&M Records release of 'unguarded' hit the radio and stores in 1985. The story really begins four years earlier, when Amy Grant's first Gold Album of the 'Age to Age Tour' began it's opening leg on the campus of Oklahoma University in Norman. That day, Ed met Amy and then keyboard player Michael W. Smith for the first time and the relationship began to grow. So much so that in the fall of 1984, Ed was asked to design a fundraising concert featuring Michael. That volunteer opportunity opened up new collaborations on Michael's first US/Canada 'Friends Tour' in early 1985 then involvement with Amy Grant later that year, on the 'unguarded Tour'. Ed's work was featured in 20,000 seat arenas throughout 1985 into 1989 for the multi-platinum 'Lead Me On' Tour.

Those concert tours garnered personal involvement with other artists including George Strait, Dolly Parton, James Taylor, Robin Williams, Clint Black, Waylon Jennings, Wynonna, Martina McBride, The Mavericks, Alabama, Kenny Loggins, Michael McDonald, Brad Paisley, TobyMac, Skillet, The Newboys, India Arie, Drew Holcomb and The Neighbors and more.

His work on large scale ideas has opened doors to designing big art, large format digital design and production content for parades, festivals, celebrations and special events around the nation and overseas. His team of professional artists and collaborators have created designs for GM Saturn, Nissan North America, the Olympic Games Cultural Celebrations, the Tournament of Roses Parade and countless other brands and marketing activations.

Now 38 years later, Ed James work is being seen for the first time in new exciting venues including gallery installations, mid-century modern home design, office spaces and retail stores.
